You taught me what love was like.
I didn't realize your version of love was broken, and that it would break me.
I've spent the past ten years unlearning what you taught me. Quieting what I thought was my inner voice, which was actually yours. Learning to be my biggest supporter instead of my biggest critic.
I wish you could be here to see it. And I wish that if you saw it, you would celebrate me.
But I know you won't. And I have to learn to accept it.
As much as I wish you would be my mummy. I now know you will never be.
